How to change primary Domain Name in WHM?

To change the primary domain of an account from  WHM.

1. Log in to WHM:

Access WHM by going to yourdomain.com:2087 or yourserverip:2087 and log in using your root or reseller credentials.

2. Go to the List Accounts Section:

In the WHM dashboard, search for “List Accounts” in the search bar (or you can find it under the Account Information section).

Click on List Accounts.

3. Find the Account You Want to Modify:

In the List Accounts page, you will see a list of all cPanel accounts on your server.

Use the search bar or scroll through the list to locate the account for which you want to change the primary domain.

4. Modify the Account:

Next to the account you want to modify, click on the “+” (Edit) icon (or Modify Account link, depending on the interface version).

5. Change the Primary Domain:

This will bring up the Modify an Account page for that account.

In the Primary Domain field, change the domain to the new domain name you want to use as the primary domain for that account.

6. Save the Changes:

After updating the domain, scroll down and click Save or Modify to apply the changes.

7. Update DNS for the New Domain:

You will need to update the DNS records for the new domain (if it’s not already set up correctly). This can be done either from the DNS Zone Editor in WHM or your domain registrar’s DNS settings.

  • Make sure the A record and other necessary records are pointing to the server correctly for the new domain.

8. Check Website and Email:

After changing the primary domain, verify that the website and email for the new domain are working properly.
